Mineral Exploration & Drilling
Enigma Earth supports local and international project owners, licence holders, investors and technical partners with mineral exploration requirements connected to Pakistan. Define geological mapping, surveys, exploration drilling, sampling and testing around the question your project needs to answer.
Start with a Geological Question
Mineral exploration projects in Pakistan can range from early reconnaissance in remote geological settings to drilling programmes designed to test a defined mineral target. Before commissioning a survey or drilling programme, establish what the investigation needs to resolve. The objective may be to trace a mineralised zone, investigate its depth, understand its continuity or obtain representative samples for testing.
Existing geological maps, previous sampling, historic drill records and field observations can provide a starting point, but their reliability matters. A report with unclear sample locations cannot be treated in the same way as a documented exploration database.
A staged programme should make each investigation useful to the next decision rather than commissioning every available technique at once.

Build the Investigation Around the Target
The appropriate exploration method depends on the target mineral, geological setting, existing evidence and site conditions. This is particularly important across Pakistan's varied metallic, industrial-mineral, gemstone and pegmatite environments.

Geological Mapping, Remote Sensing & GIS
Geological mapping records rock types, structures and surface features relevant to the target. GIS can organise those observations alongside boundaries, access routes and other spatial information.
Satellite imagery can support reconnaissance and field planning, but it does not replace field verification or establish a mineral resource on its own. The output should distinguish observed information from geological interpretation.

Geophysical Surveys & Geochemical Sampling
Geophysical methods investigate contrasts in physical properties. Magnetic, gravity, electrical resistivity and induced-polarisation surveys answer different questions and should be selected according to the geological target and setting.
Geochemical work may involve rock, soil or stream-sediment sampling. Sampling purpose, locations, preparation and analytical requirements should be established before collection so field observations and laboratory results remain connected.

Exploration Drilling & Core Logging
Discuss diamond core drilling or another suitable exploration method once targets and information requirements are sufficiently defined. The scope should identify proposed drill collars, objectives, expected depths and responsibilities for access, utilities and sample handling.
Core logging, photography and sample intervals should preserve the geological context of the recovered material. Core recovery, structures and sample identifiers need consistent records so analytical results can be interpreted correctly.

Mineral Testing & Quality Control
An assay reports the analysed composition of a sample; it does not automatically describe the whole deposit. Representativeness, analytical method and data quality determine how the result can be used.
The testing scope should identify the required analytes, suitable methods and appropriate quality assurance and quality control. QA/QC may include reference materials, blanks and duplicates selected by the responsible technical specialist.
If the next decision concerns processing, mineralogical or metallurgical testwork may also be required. High elemental grade alone does not demonstrate recoverability.
From Existing Evidence to the Next Exploration Decision
A staged exploration workflow designed so that each phase generates the evidence required for the subsequent technical commitment.

Provide coordinates, district and province or territory in Pakistan, together with access information and the nearest practical reference point where available.
Existing Geological Data
Maps, historic reports, previous sampling and drill records where available.
Title Information
Provide any available exploration licence, prospecting licence, mining lease, concession or project-boundary information relevant to the site.
Exploration Objective
Explain what the next investigation must resolve.
Site Constraints
Include access, terrain, weather, seasonality, utilities and security considerations where relevant.
Different Materials Require Different Evidence
Geological investigation objectives vary significantly between metallic ores, industrial minerals, sedimentary deposits, and pegmatite occurrences. Pakistan's mineral environment includes metallic deposits, industrial minerals, coal, salt, dimension stone, gemstones and specialist pegmatite occurrences, but each target requires its own evidence base.
Base & Precious Metals
DossierCopper, lead-zinc, gold-related and other metallic targets require geological continuity, grade and recovery evidence.
Industrial Minerals
DossierIndustrial minerals must be investigated against both geological continuity and the quality required for the intended application.
Coal, Salt & Stone
DossierDeposit geometry, quality, extraction characteristics and product requirements differ from metallic exploration.
Gemstones & Pegmatites
DossierGemstones and rare pegmatite minerals may occur as pockets, veins or specimen material and should not automatically be treated as bulk commodities.
Critical-Mineral Targets
DossierLithium, tin, tungsten, molybdenum, rare-earth elements, nickel and cobalt may be discussed as exploration targets where evidence exists.
Exploration Evidence Is Not Production Evidence
Historical and geological references exist for lithium, tin, tungsten, molybdenum and rare-earth investigations in Pakistan. Nickel and cobalt also appear in mineral-opportunity discussions. These references should be treated as investigation context rather than proof of active commercial production.
Graphite likewise requires verified mineralogy, grade and application suitability. A reporting category or geological occurrence does not establish battery-grade supply.
Rare pegmatite minerals such as spodumene, columbite–tantalite, cassiterite, pollucite and beryllonite should remain exploration or specimen leads unless deposit-level evidence demonstrates a recoverable resource.
Exploration Context Across Key Mineral Regions
Pakistan contains very different geological settings, so exploration strategy should reflect the province or territory, target commodity, terrain and quality of existing evidence.
Balochistan
DossierReference context can include Spezand iron investigations, Chilghazi metallic exploration, Uthal copper prospects and the Zhob ophiolite.
Punjab
DossierChiniot-Rajoa and Kalabagh provide documented iron-resource and development context.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
DossierHaripur and Chitral appear in geological-investigation records, while Swat contains documented emerald mineralisation.
Gilgit-Baltistan
DossierRegional references include copper occurrences around Ishkoman, Yasin, Chalt and Misgar, plus gemstone and pegmatite settings around Hunza, Shigar and Haramosh.
Azad Jammu & Kashmir
DossierNeelum Valley includes gemstone and historical exploration contexts, including lithium-related investigation references.
Sindh
DossierNagarparkar provides granite occurrence context, while other parts of Sindh contain industrial-mineral and coal settings.
Access and Seasonality Matter
Mountain and remote exploration sites may require additional planning for vehicle access, field camps, equipment movement, communications, weather and working season. These conditions should be included in the fieldwork brief rather than treated as assumptions after mobilisation.
This can be particularly important for exploration in northern Pakistan and other remote mountainous areas, where road access, weather and working season may affect field planning.
