GEOLOGICAL APPRAISAL

Mineralogy & Geological Occurrence

Pakistan hosts significant copper mineralization predominantly associated with the western Tethyan magmatic belt. Metallogenic systems range from world-scale calc-alkaline porphyry copper-gold complexes to hydrothermal quartz-sulfide veins and volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits along suture zones.

Geological Setting & Host Formations

The primary copper province is the Chagai-Ras Koh magmatic arc in western Balochistan, formed by northern subduction of the Arabian oceanic plate beneath the Afghan microplate during the Cretaceous to Neogene epochs. Mineralization typically exhibits classic concentric porphyry alteration zones (potassic, phyllic, propylitic) centered on multiphase diorite to granodiorite intrusions.

Key Mineralogy & Chemical Formula

Primary hypogene mineralization is dominated by chalcopyrite (CuFeS2) and bornite (Cu5FeS4) with associated pyrite, magnetite, and auriferous inclusions. Near-surface supergene enrichment zones host chalcocite, covellite, and oxidized secondary carbonates including malachite and azurite.

Formula: Chalcopyrite (CuFeS2), Bornite (Cu5FeS4), Malachite (Cu2CO3(OH)2)

PRODUCT ARCHITECTURE

Commercial Forms & Processing Stages

Commercial requirements must strictly differentiate between raw extraction, sorted grades, and processed products.

01

Copper-Bearing Direct Shipping Ore (DSO)

Raw run-of-mine ore extracted directly from high-grade hydrothermal veins or supergene zones. Requires mechanical crushing, sorting, and strict moisture control prior to bulk haulage.

Run-of-mine lump (10 mm to 100 mm)
02

Flotation Copper Concentrate

Beneficiated mineral powder produced through froth flotation of pulverized chalcopyrite ore. Standard international trading medium for copper smelters.

Fine dry-to-damp powder (80% passing 75 microns / 200 mesh)
03

Oxide Copper Ore / Leaching Feed

Secondary oxidized malachite and azurite ores suitable for hydrometallurgical processing (acid heap leaching followed by solvent extraction and electrowinning / SX-EW).

Crushed rock aggregate (10 mm to 50 mm)
04

Refined Copper Cathode

Electrolytically refined pure copper cathode (Cu >= 99.99%). Clarification: Refined cathode represents advanced industrial processing and is not a standard raw quarry product.

Standard 100 kg electrolytic cathode plates

VERIFICATION PROTOCOL

Testing & Verification Requirements

Testing and quality verification must be conducted by an appropriate independent laboratory. Commercial transactions require representative sampling, assay, chemical analysis or gemological appraisal, and third-party inspection. Enigma Earth does not maintain a private testing monopoly.

Representative Sampling

Mechanical stream sampling or spear sampling according to ISO 12743 standard procedures for copper concentrates. Representative composite lot creation with sealed umpire reserves.

Standard Test Methods
  • ISO 9599 (Determination of hygroscopic moisture in analytical sample)
  • ISO 10258 (Determination of copper content — Titrimetric methods)
  • ASTM E1898 (Determination of copper by flame atomic absorption spectrometry)
  • IMO IMSBC Code (Transportable Moisture Limit & Flow Moisture Point testing)
Laboratory Independence

Commercial transactions require third-party accredited laboratory verification. Enigma Earth does not maintain a private assay monopoly; testing must be performed by mutually agreed accredited bodies (e.g. ALS, SGS, Alfred H Knight).

QUALITY CRITERIA

Impurity Tolerances & Critical Penalty Factors

Commercial specifications require explicit thresholds for penalty elements, structural soundness, color uniformity, and treatment parameters.

Arsenic (As)

Quality Parameter

Operational Impact: Environmental toxin and smelter penalty element; causes embrittlement in refined copper wire

Tolerance: Rejection typically > 0.50%; penalties apply above 0.20%

Antimony (Sb) & Bismuth (Bi)

Quality Parameter

Operational Impact: Severe cathode contamination; impedes electrical conductivity and wire drawing

Tolerance: Penalty threshold typically > 0.05% combined; Bi strictly < 0.05%

Lead (Pb) & Zinc (Zn)

Quality Parameter

Operational Impact: Affects refractory lining of smelter furnaces and complicates slag viscosity

Tolerance: Pb < 0.50%, Zn < 1.0% in standard copper smelter contracts

Mercury (Hg)

Quality Parameter

Operational Impact: Stringent international maritime and air emission restriction

Tolerance: Rejection typically > 10 ppm (0.001%)

Fluorine (F) & Chlorine (Cl)

Quality Parameter

Operational Impact: Corrosive off-gas generation in smelter acid plants and electrostatic precipitators

Tolerance: F < 300 ppm, Cl < 500 ppm
SUPPLY CHAIN INTEGRITY

Sourcing, Provenance & Preparation Logistics

Due diligence guidelines for legal chain of custody, packaging standards, and maritime export protocols.

Origin Verification & Licensing

All copper commercial lots must be accompanied by official provincial transport passes (Mines & Minerals Development Department), verified concession lease numbers, and certified chain-of-custody documentation.

Large-scale Tier-1 porphyry deposits (such as Saindak and Reko Diq) are held under state-authorized multilateral consortium agreements and are not available for private spot trading. Available regional sourcing is restricted to licensed private concession holders operating permitted medium-scale deposits.

Provenance Caution: A seller presenting an assay showing high copper content does not prove that an entire mountain or bulk parcel conforms to that grade. Grab samples frequently misrepresent average grade. Only representative lot sampling verifies commercial quality.
Packaging & Maritime Transport
  • 1.5 MT to 2.0 MT UV-stabilized woven polypropylene bulk jumbo bags with inner polyethylene moisture liner
  • Bulk containerized loading with heavy-duty 20ft container liners
  • Steel-banded and sealed container seals for export security

Transport via dedicated flatbed trailers to Port Qasim or Karachi Port for breakbulk or containerized maritime freight. Compliance with IMO International Maritime Solid Bulk Cargoes (IMSBC) Code is legally mandatory.

Handling Caution: Copper concentrate must never be loaded onto vessels if the moisture content exceeds the Transportable Moisture Limit (TML), as liquefaction during ocean transit presents a catastrophic vessel stability hazard.
